We also use this format to expose our street culture abroad and create a more diverse image of our countries. Episodes are produced in local languages and contain subtitles in both the original language as well as in English. ---- Notes for this episode: Sorry for the bad light in some of the images. Please note that again, that just like in the other episode, many speakers in Brazil don’t necessarily pronounce the “s” in plurals. It is believed that this comes from the influence of Italian immigrants. These simply omitted the “s” and since there were many of them coming to Brazil between the 1920s and the 1960s, they influenced other native speakers over many generations generations. Often people abbreviate regular words such as “está” (is) which turns into “tá” in spoken language. We have put the correct form in brackets so you can see the difference. ABOUT THE EVENT #VERDEJANDO The media giant Globo and the city of Sao Paulo started this greening project, which collaborates with different groups who are engaged in creating better living conditions for citizens. Golden Residence Permit of Portugal - European Pas...

http://www.europeanpassport.eu Unlike so many other countries, where the ability to naturalize into citizenship calls for significant local language ability, Portuguese law is very liberal in this regard. The statutory requirement for naturalization calls for a new citizen to have merely a 'knowledge of Portuguese' and the actual ability required is best described as at a 'get around town' level -- that's it. Taken as part of your application for Permanent Residency, the models for the tests are established by law and costs just 15 Euro Kids aged 10 to 14 take one type of test -- everyone older takes another. The two test types contain a section on reading comprehension and another section on written expression and last 60 minutes. The test for children younger than 14 has appropriate content for this age group, including ads, information on recreational activities and a short text about an animal. The test for applicants older than 14 contains real examples of notices and ads and a simple text about an emigrant. The texts both correspond to level A2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. A result of 50% or more is sufficient to pass the test And if you fail, you just keep on taking it until you eventually pass, with no limit on the number of retakes. By the time you're ready to qualify for Citizenship, the government earnestly wish to welcome you to the fold and, judging from the average 86% pass rate, Portuguese language knowledge is not acting as a barrier to the admission of new nationals.

Best Conversation Starters For Language Learners

Yes, I know how it is. By some odd chance you get introduced to someone who speaks Portuguese, or you're in line at the grocery store and you realize the two people standing in front of you are actually speaking... Portuguese! Or better yet, you get to your gate, ready to board your flight to Brazil and you're suddenly surrounded by hundreds of people who speak Portuguese... and you finally think "Yes, this is finally my chance to actually start speaking Portuguese face-to-face with someone!" and then... BLANK! You suddenly don't know what to say! Or you're just afraid that after saying "Hi" you won't know how to follow up and keep a conversation going which would last more than 3 seconds... Don't worry, I've been in those situations and I'll be able to help you overcome those challenges. Here are some great ways to start a conversation with a native speaker in a foreign language: - Smile: First of all, make sure you approach the person with a big and honest smile. I'm not going to go into details of how many doors a smile opens or how important smiles are. There are plenty of researches out there in the internet for you to look into. But don't even think about approaching someone without having that smile in your face. It's THAT important. I remember being in Turkey. Still feeling a little out of place since their culture is considerably different than what I was used to, it's a predominantly Muslim country, the way that a lot of men and women dress was not what saw on a day-to-day basis, you get it, right? Even though Istanbul is very "westernized", it's still Turkey and the Turkish people are proud of their country and traditions. Anyways, I go into the hotel, go through the metal-detector (yes, the same kind you see at airports...), go into the elevator, alone, after realizing that the Muslim women wearing burkas who had arrive shortly after me, wouldn't dare walk inside the same elevator as me... (it actually made me feel bad to be "rejected" like that, did I smell bad? Did I look dangerous? It was only later on that I learned why they wouldn't go in the elevator with me) and then it stops several floors before mine. A man walks in, wearing his traditional Arab tunic, cap and with the biggest smile on his face, he just starts talking to me. Basically, he just wanted to practice his English! He obviously assumed that by the way I looked and dressed that I was an English speaker, and he was of course right. I can fully credit his big and honest smile as the one thing which made me feel totally comfortable and actually have a really nice conversation with the guy, not just that time, but every time we would bump into each other at the hotel. Ok, now that I know you will not forget to smile, here are phrases you should start with: (visit www.simplyportuguese.com for full article)

However, there are good ways to do it, and there are ways that can make your efforts backfire on you. For instance, practicing the language too long at a time can cause fatigue, which means you'll end up not retaining much from each session as you had hoped you would. Generally, fifteen to twenty minutes a day is enough. Also very important is that you practice with a partner who speaks both Portuguese and your native language fluently. For example, if you are a native English speaker, your partner should be able to give you accurate English Portuguese interpretation. If you enroll in a language school, of course, this is a given. Once you learn Portuguese, it may be even easier to pick up other romantic languages such as English, French and Spanish. While not similar in essence, these different language styles do have certain things in common that makes it easy for you to understand and learn each of them. So if you already speak English, it'll be easier for you to pick up on Portuguese words " simply because they sound similar and often have the same meaning. Easy Brazilian Portuguese 10 - Differences betwee...

هفت ماه پیش ۵۵ بازدید

Learn Portuguese with Easy Brazilian Portuguese! This time Kristina is out and about in Curitiba to ask people about the difference between Curitibano and Paulistano! About the episode: Curitiba has about 1.7m inhabitants and is the capital of the Brazilian state of Paraná. It is considered Brazilians furthest developed big city but still people who come to live in the city complain about the locals being too cold. We went there to find out if that is true or not and found no trouble in finding interview partners. We even need to excuse ourselves for losing the sound material of another six wonderful interviews we had with visitors and artisans. So sorry! Language details: Brazilians often use “Ne?” in the end of their sentences in order to confirm what was said before. It is short for “Não é?” (Isn’t it?). Another very common habit is using examples for what was said in order to make the message clearer. Therefore Brazilians often use “tipo” (just like) in their spoken language. Informal language example: No Brasil você não precisa pagar uma gorjeta, tipo, quando você vai no restaurante, eles normalmente já incluem 10% do valor da sua conta automaticamente no valor total. (In Brazil you don’t have to pay tips, just like when you go to a restaurant, they usually already include 10% of the value of your bill automatically in the total value.) Unlike in English, people from a place and their languages are written with small letters. Example: inglês (Englishman), inglês (the English language) Draft beer: Is it Chopp or Chope? Even Brazilians argue about it. In the menu it is usually “chopp” but the pronunciation is “shopi”, which correspondents the Brazilian “chope”. According to the Michaelis dictionary of Brazilian language, chopp is a foreign word that was already integrated in the portuguese language and therefore should also be written in a Portuguese manner, which is “chope”. But since thi version is yet very uncommon, we will continue writing Chopp in our transcriptions. The verb “tomar” often resembles the English idea of “take” but in contexts with food we sometimes need to translate it as “drink” and sometimes as “eat” and sometimes simply as “have”. The LANGUAGE CHALLENGE - Portuguese vs. German | S...

Espero que as pessoas leiam isto antes de comentar, porque já houve gente a dizer que não ouviram qualquer palavra em português neste vídeo. Explicação: eu falo português, portanto a Catarina escolheu palavras muito complicadas para eu traduzir, eu não conhecia nenhuma das palavras, mas existem. Se não as conhecem é porque realmente são mesmo pouco utilizadas, mas sim, existem. Hope people read this before commenting, cause there were already some people saying that they didn't hear a single word in portuguese in this video. Explanation: I speak portuguese, therefore Catarina had to pick complicated words for me to translate, I didn't know any of the words, but they do exist. If you don't know them, then they are truly not used a lot, but they do exist. * * * * * * Me and my friend Catarina did the "Language Challenge", inspired by the video Felix and Marzia did (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1PJ60mrHQc). We did Portuguese vs. German words and I hope you enjoy! Music: "It's Time - Imagine Dragons [Instrumental]" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keg58u4CGYY Thank you for watching! P.S. Hi guys!! Tonight I will be trying something new! This was fun to make...I hope you enjoy my whispering different phrases in Spanish, French and Portuguese. If your native language is one of the ones I'm trying out, please be understanding in that my Spanish is quite rusty and it is the only language I was formally taught. The rest I ambitiously self-taught with a little help from my friends. Sorry if it isn't as accurate as it could be. If you like this, I will practice more and get better! Let me know what you wanna see! Thanks for watching ^_^ Beginning - 7:35: languages!!! Learning How To Speak Portuguese: Basic Expression...

Learning how to speak Portuguese Basic Expressions - http://trdr.ly/brlportuguese Whether you are traveling to Brazil, Portugal, or possibly Angola, the language of Portuguese is something that can be very useful on your travels. More than anything on your visit to Europe when you visit the majestic cities of Portugal or whether you cross the other side of the globe and enjoy the delicate beaches and people of Brazil. Learning how speak Portuguese is one of the hardest languages I have had to learn after learning more than 9. The Portuguese language and the Portuguese basic expressions are quite difficult to pronounce but that difficult to understand. The language itself is 90% Spanish in the way it is written and seen but as mentioned above pronunciations are extremly EXTREMLY difficult. If I had to tell you one language that was the hardest to speak after traveling around the world for so many years it would have to be Portuguese. That goes without saying that learning how to speak Portuguese does get easier over time. The one thing that you have to get used to is how to say certain words and then understand the pronunciations behind them. Here are some examples: nh is pronounced like the Spanish ñ anything that ends in em is pronounced like the ending ing in English The nasal passages are used extensively when speaking the language. It will honestly be the most difficult part of learning how to speak Portuguese Language. If you are a fluent Spanish speaker then you can go to any Portuguese speaking country and get by with speaking that as most words are written the same but pronounced differently. This learning how to speak Portuguese - Basic Expressions video was taped on the beaches of Jericoacoara in Northern Brazil near the larger city of Fortaleza. This is actually a fresh water lagoon that anyone can visit with a nearby village beach town that you can explore.
